Xiaomi expected to ship more than 100 million smartphones in 2018

Xiaomi’s performance was exemplary last year, even though there were many predictions that it would in fact collapse. It is however entirely possible that the company could rise to make 2017 its best year ever in terms of the number of smartphones sold. Official data that has been released shows that more than 90 million units were shipped in the past year, while it is not difficult to predict that the company will reach 100 million units in 2018.According to the reports published in the Taiwanese e-Times, 4 of the major Chinese smartphone manufacturers have formulated an extremely aggressive development plan for 2018. As they have already captured the domestic market, it is expected that they will enter foreign markets this year.
This is especially true for Xiaomi, whose products are already very popular abroad, especially in India. Xiaomi’s Redmi line models are sold by the millions in this country. In hindsight, this was entirely predictable as Xiaomi’s Redmi smartphones are cheap, but still provide excellent performance. It is therefore predicted this manufacturer will do whatever it can to enter other markets via these models. Official reports indicate that for the last number of quarters, Xiaomi’s smartphone shipments exceeded 10 million units per month. It’s therefore easy to calculate that phone sales will reach between 120 million and 150 million in 2018.
Huawei, the leader in the Chinese smartphone market, has also performed well. It will, however, likely increase the sales volume of 150 million units shipped during the last few years to reach 200 million units shipped in 2018.
Oppo and Vivo are both seen as having phones that are very cost-effective, and these could easily be sold in developing countries. These devices would likely sport many trendy features including full-screens, dual-camera, AI, and much more.
