New Apple event info. Keep an eye out for M1X MacBook Pros
The iPhone 13 and Apple Watch 7 were unveiled in September, but there may be more devices coming later on in 2021.
The September launch event, which launched the iPhone 13 line, happened very recently, but Apple fans are already eagerly awaiting the next event. The latest news from Bloomberg state that new MacBook Pro models that boast an updated M1 processor are likely on their way and will arrive in October.
In a tweet, a Bloomberg expert had said that two Apple events are expected to occur from Apple this fall, with the second event to reveal new Macs and more iPad models. The debut of AirPods 3 should also occur by the end of 2021, with a few more products to be launched in 2022. The latter include an updated iPad Pro, the new-fangled AirPods Pro, revamped Mac Pros and MacBook Airs that utilize Apple Silicon.
The September unveiling of the new iPhone 13 lineup and the Apple Watch 7, iPad Mini 6 and basic updated iPad. The iPhone 13 range is the same as the 2021 iPhone 12 line, and includes the standard, Mini, Pro and Pro Max options. The updated iPhones run on iOS 15 and includes several camera improvements, upgraded storage, as well as a new A15 Bionic processor and some other features.
Before the last launch event hosted by Apple, it actually held two other events in the same year. The first happened in April, revealing new iPad upgrades, iMacs in a new range of colors, AirTag trackers, an exciting iPhone 12 in a purple shade, etc. In June, it held the annual WWDC developers event. That’s where we first encountered iOS 15, MacOS Monterey (aka MacOS 12), WatchOS 8 and iPadOS 15.
What do we know about the upcoming October event? Will there be a new MacBook Pro or AirPods 3? We’ll share everything we know in this article and keep updating you when new info becomes available.
Is the next Apple event happening in October?
Three or four Apple events are held every year. They usually include a spring event, a summer developer conference and a couple of events in the fall. September and October are the typical event months. The September event usually reveals new iPhones and Apple Watch upgrades, and in October, new Macs and iPads typically come out. This is consistent with the Bloomberg predictions.
The event pattern shifted a bit in 2020 due to pandemic-related production delays. The 2020 September Apple event revealed the Apple Watch 6, Apple Watch SE and upgraded iPad models. No new iPhones were released. Subsequently, Apple revealed the iPhone 12 in October. 2020 Apple event was held in an online-only format because of the pandemic. It was available for livestreaming on the company's website.
In 2021, Apple went back to its regular September schedule, holding another virtual event. In the past decade, Apple has been hosting events in October (except in 2019, 2017 and 2015), we can expect another Apple event very soon.
New products are on the way: AirPods 3, Macs and more
Apple already revealed a ton of hardware and software upgrades during its previous 2021 events. These included the iPhone 13, Apple Watch 7, iPad Mini 6 and a new basic iPad. There are, however, a few items that everyone is hoping to see unveiled in the fall. We’d love to see the AirPods 3, a bigger iMac running on the Apple's M1 chip, a more affordable Apple Display and a new MacBook Pro and Mac Pro that may even have an updated Apple's M1 chip. A smart display by Apple, to compete with the Amazon Echo Show, a soundbar with a built-in Apple TV and possibly an AR/VR headset.
AirPods 3
Apple's AirPods may also be revised in 2021, Bloomberg reports. AirPods 3 may be similar to the AirPods Pro, with features like the spatial audio support, a shorter stem, interchangeable tips and a smaller case for charging. Read on for other predictions.
Upcoming Apple Display, MacBook Pros, Mac Pros, Mac Mini and iMac
In 2020, Apple announced its production of a proprietary chip, the M1, to power its Macs. Since that point, we’ve been hearing speculations that Apple may very well be revealing an updated processor for the new MacBook Pro/Mac Pro very shortly.
Previously, Apple had also announced an M1-powered new iMac, but it was only the smaller 24-inch model. Industry experts have reported Apple’s development of processor updates for both the Mac Mini and 27-inch iMac.
A cheaper version of Apple’s Pro Display XDR, initially launched in 2019, may also be underway. January reports said that a more affordable Apple monitor was in the early stages of development.
AR/VR headset, Echo Show rival and Apple TV soundbar
Some brand-new devices may be coming out of Apple in 2021. These are a potential Apple competitor to the Amazon Echo Show that combines a basic iPad with a speaker, a soundbar equipped with built-in Apple TV and an augmented- or virtual-reality headset.
