iPhone 13 may be launched in mid- to late September, said to feature LiDAR technology
An investment company leaked a rumor that iPhone 13 may be launched in the third week of September. Another interesting piece of info is that the iPhone 13 Pro series will have an option of up to 1TB memory — the existing 512GB maximum fades in comparison. Even though we have yet to hear from Apple about the iPhone 13 series the market is buzzing with the rumors that the new series could contain four separate models — iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and the inimitable iPhone 13 Pro Max.
The info that supposedly originated at supply-chain sources states that the iPhone 13 will be launched in a “normal” timeframe and should occur in the third week of September.
Consistent with earlier reports, the LA investment firm claimed that the whole iPhone 13 lineup is slated to feature the Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) scanning tech. This is a step forward from the iPhone 12 series, where only the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max models offer LiDAR sensors. A very recent market research report also assumed that LiDAR sensors would be limited to the Pro models in the upcoming series.
Apple could significantly upgrade augmented reality (AR) experiences by offering LiDAR scanners throughout the whole 2021 iPhone lineup. iPhone 13 Pro models are also expected to come with 1TB storage.
The total expected shipments of the iPhone 13 series are estimated at approximately 90 to 100 million units — also a step up from the iPhone 12 series, of which 80 million units were supplied. There is also speculation that demand for the iPhone 13 line would be equal or slightly greater than that for the iPhone 12. A Bloomberg report recently hinted that Apple was seeking to boost iPhone 13 production by up to 20% in 2021.
Other reports recently suggested that the iPhone 13 series would come with an Always-on display similar to the Apple Watch, and offer Wi-Fi 6E connectivity. There may be options like faster wireless charging and two new colors on the palette — Sunset Gold and Pearl.
Apple has not yet made an official announcement of the iPhone 13 series. Thus, all of these rumors may actually be just that.
