Google Pixel 6a and Pixel Watch May Be Released at Google I/O 2022 (May)
Rumors have it that Google Pixel 6a will be released before its predecessors. An industry expert has shared the new timeline for the launch of the soon-to-be-released mid-range Google smartphone. Another informant reports that the upcoming Google Pixel Watch will also launch at the same time. Over the past months, certain information has surfaced online on the upcoming Google Pixel 6a. For instance, these reports center on the expected design and certain vital characteristics of the upcoming Pixel 6a.
Supposedly, the launch is slated for May 2022, but the actual launch date for the mid-range Google Pixel smartphone is still unknown. If this is indeed true, the Pixel 6a will be released earlier in the year than its predecessors (Pixel 4a and 5a 5G). Pixel 4a was released in October 2020 in India and was unveiled globally in August 2020. In August 2021 Pixel 5a 5G was introduced.
But Pixel 4a and Pixel 5a 5G were released in August because of COVID-related delays, while prior to the pandemic, the Pixel 3a was unveiled in May 2019. Presumably, the upcoming mid-range Pixel smartphone may be released during Google I/O 2022.
Google Pixel 6a is reported to be powered by a Google Tensor GS101 SoC, which is also used in its 6 and 6 Pro models. The upcoming smartphone will also utilize a 12.2-megapixel Sony IMX363 sensor in its dual rear camera.
In November, several pics of Google Pixel 6a came out, showing the smartphone with a hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera, a dual rear camera and no 3.5mm headphone jack. Supposedly, the smartphone will have a glass back and get a two-tone finish. The camera island in the back will have dual-rear cameras, just like the other models in the Pixel 6 series. It will presumably measure 152.2x71.8x8.7mm (10.4mm including rear camera bump).
Another expert claims that the Google Pixel Watch may be released on May 26. He also shared several renders of the upcoming Google smartwatch with blue, gray, and orange straps and a black circular dial.
