Foxconn halts production at two Chinese plants because of Covid-19 restrictions
The key supplier of Apple, Foxconn Technology group, suspended work at 2 Kunchan production plants in eastern China. The reason lies in the coronavirus epidemic, which has been spreading throughout China recently.
All operations were halted on April 20, and all personnel remains in the dormitories inside the factory complex.
Kunshan’s suburbs of Fuhong and Dianfa are home to two of Apple’s four campuses. Several other factories may also be facing an upcoming shutdown.
The Chinese government has been enforcing severe coronavirus restrictions throughout the country. Other manufacturers also had to shut down for various periods of time, but some are already resuming their operations.
No comments from Apple or Foxconn are available at this time.
