As New iPhone X price drops to $899, iPhone X Plus might start at $999

It is believed that Apple will bring out a new line of iPhones later in the year, taking the design of the iPhone X to a new range of devices. Amit Daryanani, an analyst from RBC Capital, has now taken a shot at trying to predict pricing for these new iPhones.Bloomberg, KGI, and others have all recently revealed that Apple is planning to release 3 new iPhones this year. The first model that is expected is an improved version of the 5.8” iPhone X that was announced last year. It is also believed that Apple will announce the latest 6.1 inch variant with an LCD screen, and a 6.5 inch ‘iPhone X Plus’ with an OLED display.
Although these sources have revealed a host of information about the new models, details on pricing remains sketchy.
Daryanani is of the opinion that pricing for the Apple iPhone lineup in 2018 will start at more than $700 for the 6.1” LCD model, while the 5.8” OLED product might sell for $899. The iPhone X Plus rounds out the lineup, and Daryanani predicts it will be priced at $999.
RBC is essentially predicting that Apple will decrease prices by $100. As the iPhone X is currently sells for $999, Daryanani prediction of a $100 price reduction will allow for the iPhone X Plus to sell at $999 at the higher of the market.
A $799 price point doesn’t seem unreasonable for the 6.1” model with LCD display, as that is what the iPhone 8 Plus is currently sold for, and the 2 models will likely have similar specs.
Various analysts have also recently expressed concerns about Apple pricing. Last week a report was released that stated that if Apple continues raising iPhone pricing, users will not be willing to spend that much on a smartphone. Reducing the iPhone X price to $899 and then offering the same level of functionality in the LCD model at a lower price might therefore attract additional customers.
