Apple Reality Pro MR Headset may go into mass production by March 2023
Reality Pro by Apple, the long-awaited mixed reality (MR) headset presumably in development, is likely to enter mass production by 03/23. Apple’s first MR headset was slated to be announced in 01/23, with pre-order sales starting in Q2 2023, and with open sales launched approximately in 06/23 when the company typically conducts its annual WWDC event. The headset will probably be supplied by China-based Pegatron.
Pegatron will probably be the main device supplier. In addition, Apple may be launching its very first XR headset at an 04/23 event, despite previous reports of the headset being launched at WWDC event, usually held in June. Initially, the headset may be sold through limited supply channels.
Apple has trademarked the 'Reality' brand name for its headset range. Its three AR-VR headset models may be codenamed N301, N602, and N421. The first one, N is the company's MR headset, which may also be called Apple Reality Pro and is expected to compete with Meta’s upcoming MR headset.
The N602 device will probably be a lightweight AR variant of the Apple Reality Pro, which the company may introduce at a later time and at a lower price level under the Reality One motto. On the other hand, N421 is the codename for the AR glasses Apple is set to launch, which may be called Reality Processor. Trademark applications have already been submitted through Immersive Health Solutions LLC, a shell firm for the names of Reality One, Reality Pro, and Reality Processor.
The rumored MR headset, Apple Reality Pro, will presumably use iris scans for sign-in and payments. The mechanism will probably function similarly to Apple's fingerprint or Face ID authentication features used on other devices. It may also allow several people to access one headset.
