A 12% YoY growth of global smartwatch shipments in 2022 + Fire-Boltt and Noise make it to Top 5
The global smartphone market grew by 12% YoY in 2022 judging by the shipment volume. The strongest growth occurred in the first three quarters, with Apple grabbing 34.1% share of the market, Samsung – 9.8% and Huawei – 6.7%. The remaining two spots in the top 5 rating are taken by two Indian brands – Noise and Fire-Boltt, with over 5% each. The last two spots in the top 5 were previously held by Imoo and Amazfit.
In fact, the Indian smartphone market has grown more than twofold YoY, and has demonstrated stable growth until Q3 2022. In Q4 it did, however, fall by a staggering 36% compared to Q3, possibly due to the inventory stock-up for the holiday season.
The devices very much in demand from Apple’s were Apple Watch (Se, Series 8 and Ultra 2022 models), and the total increase in smartwatch shipments constitutes 17%. Cupertino-based giant’s annual shipments grew by 50 million and equaled approximately 60% of the global smartwatch market revenue. Another giant, Samsung, grew its shipments 12% YoY in 2022, but only increased its revenue by 0.5%.
Huawei’s market share slightly decreased (by 1%), but revenue, conversely, grew by an entire 20%. Fitbit and Xiaomi are now numbers 10 and 11, respectively, down from 7 and 8 in 2021.
